Sky Blue Sky has hints of early-seventies Southern California folk-rock sweetness in the harmonies. The album is filled with brash guitar solos that take songs like"You Are My Face"and"Shake It Off"in unexpected directions
Reviews:
Once and for all, can we just leave the indie rock bands trying to make an extra buck alone? Band of Horses were raked over the coals for licensing songs to Wal-Mart, and Wilco got the same flack for turning over half of Sky Blue Sky to Volkswagen. These are not incendiary anti-corporate punk screeds, people. Jeff Tweedy writes arty if increasingly direct lite-rock for a slightly more upwardly mobile set of alternadads. The kind who buy VWs. Let them have their soundtrack.
