Paint This Town offers a riveting glimpse into American mythology and the wildly colorful characters who populate it. The album pays homage to everyone from Elvis Presley to Eudora Welty while shedding a bright light on the darker aspects of the country’s legacy. Fueled by the band’s freewheeling collision of Americana, old-time music, folk, and rock & roll, Paint This Town turns razor-sharp commentary into rapturous sing-alongs.
On his major label debut album, the ravenously creative Kurt Vile pulls his talents as a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer in unexpected directions — and the result is a vibrant, yet meditative record propelled by his laid-back charm and curious spirit. Produced by Kurt Vile and Rob Schnapf.
This tribute album is a powerful sonic journey, traveling the course of Johnny's musical life, impeccably directed, as only his brother Edgar could. Joining Edgar on the inclusive project is an impressive array of renowned musicians who knew, or were inspired by Johnny, including Joe Bonamassa, Billy Gibbons, Michael McDonald, Ringo Starr and many more.
One listen through reveals where Wheeler’s unrivaled confidence comes from. Once again produced by Dave Cobb (except the song “God Told Me To Fuck You,”) and recorded at historic RCA Studio A, the album is a loud, unapologetic roar of a comeback. Wheeler explains, “I figured if I’m gonna save country music, why not save Rock ‘n’ Roll too while I’m at it?”
Prince Daddy & The Hyena’s third album dives into the theme of life coming to an end, both vocalist Kory Gregory's own life and fear of his friends and loved ones aging and dying. Gregory expands on why by saying, "It’s the first time that it’s hit me as an adult, the first time that the impermanence of everything struck, and that sent me into a little existential spiral.”
Acclaimed vibraphonist and composer Joel Ross returns with his third Blue Note album, an expansive suite comprised of seven evocative movements. Ross is joined by Immanuel Wilkins on alto saxophone, Maria Grand on tenor saxophone, Marquis Hill on trumpet, Kalia Vandever on trombone, Sean Mason on piano, Rick Rosato on bass, and Craig Weinrib on drums.

Dorothy - Gifts From The Holy Ghost - Roc Nation
Gifts From The Holy Ghost, Dorothy Martin’s third studio album as frontwoman for the pseudonymous rock band Dorothy, is the album she’s always wanted to make. Born from a sense of diving urgency, it’s their most bombastic rock n’ roll work yet. While their debut album was made on a combination of whiskey and heartbreak, Gifts was built on sobriety, health, and spiritualism, in a way that reverses the clichéd “good girl gone bad” narrative. It features the Top 40 Rock track, “Rest in Peace.”
Joshua Hedley - Neon Blue - New West Records
Joshua Hedley is “a singing professor of country & western,” he declares on his raucous and witty new album, Neon Blue. It might sound like a punchline, but it’s not. An ace fiddle player, a sharp guitarist, and a singer with a granite twang, he’s devoted his entire life to the study of this genre. Ask him about it and he’ll explain: “When all my friends went off to college, I went to Nashville. I was 19 years old playing honkytonks and getting an education.” His 2018 debut, Mr. Jukebox, showcased his deep knowledge of country’s history, in particular the beery ballads of the 1950s and ‘60s. His mentors were George Jones, Ray Price, and Glen Campbell, but his most remarkable accomplishment was putting his own spin on their style.
Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder - Get On Board - Nonesuch Records
Nearly sixty years after they first played together, Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal, longtime friends and collaborators, reunite with an album of music from two Piedmont blues masters who have inspired them all their lives: GET ON BOARD: THE SONGS OF SONNY TERRY & BROWNIE MCGHEE. With Taj Mahal on vocals, harmonica, guitar, and piano and Cooder on vocals, guitar, mandolin, and banjo-joined by Joachim Cooder on drums and bass-the duo recorded eleven songs drawn from recordings and live performances by Terry and McGhee, who they both first heard as teenagers in California.

What's New 4-8-22
Fear Of The Dawn is the most focused and exciting White solo record yet, a precision-tooled digital reconfiguration of his rock bona fides. By splitting his 2022 albums into two distinct projects and saving his quieter material for Entering Heaven Alive, White has delivered his best release since 2012's Blunderbuss, and one of the most consistently exciting albums in his 25-year-career.Y
Young Man is their first project without electric guitars, with the emphasis instead on skillful songwriting, flawless harmony, and intricate fingerpicking. Sonically the album draws on inspirations such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, yet there’s also a dusty Western feel, similar to a Guy Clark or Townes Van Zandt album where the detailed backdrop and acoustic arrangements convey the story as eloquently as the lyrics do.
Lushly orchestrated and sweetly melodic, Chloë and The Next 20th Century (his first new material since 2018’s God’s Favorite Customer) sees Father John Misty combine his Honeybear-era sound with elements of 1920s-30s jazz and traditional pop to make something that sounds both familiar and fresh.
The mysterious occult black/death metal power-trio has released 3 prior critically acclaimed albums on Moribund Records. And now, rising once more from the ethereal fog, Pact returns with their highly anticipated fourth album and the bands unquestionable masterwork God Only Knows – 2022’s first metal masterpiece!
Hailed as 'the new master of the slide guitar' by the Montreux Jazz Festival and 'the real thang' by the legendary Bootsy Collins, Jack Broadbent returns with his unique blend of virtuosic acoustic and slide guitar playing, his poignant folk and blues-inspired vocals, and his range of beautiful folk ballads to raw blues to straight-up rock 'n' roll.
After releasing two of the hottest singles of the year, Wet Leg's Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers were catapulted from their confines on the Isle of Wight to sold out venues across the UK and packed-out tents at festivals causing giddy excitement wherever they went. Now, the duo is thrilled to unveil news of their debut album.
Tucker Pillsbury continues to explore his pop sensibilities while playing with themes of love, healing, and religion - and ultimately, the power of a woman. One moment, he's crooning about his crush's earrings over crunchy chords. The next, he's spitting bars about staying home. Either way, the intimacy of his songwriting beckons connection.
A singer and guitarist who has played with many of the greatest players of the modern era, Albert Cummings has received the kind of recognition that few others do. Ten is a compelling and emotional summation of what the artist has seen and done. Blues is not a style of music that easily progresses, but this is exactly what Cummings is able to.
